Touch-points:

David Macnamara

Mustard Fridays Season Four.

The saying is “You can hear him before you can see him.”

David Macnamara and Groovy Kermit are local icons to late night revellers in New Plymouth.

David offers free rides for people who have had a night on the town, so they can get home safely. Drink driving affected David in a very real way. When he was only 6 years old, he lost his father to an intoxicated driver. This event has motivated David to do what he can to help people to choose not to drive drunk.

Groovy Kermit, the trusty bright green Toyota Starlet, has nearly ticked over 300,000kms and has become a bit of a family heirloom. Passed down by David’s grandmother to his mother, and then passed on to David as silver Starlet with mismatched panels. Thanks to the help of local businesses Groovy Kermit received a new paint job, and a mean-green music-machine was born! The kickass sound system includes two massive 12” subs, four rear speakers, custom amplifiers, two 6.5” speakers in the doors with tweeters to match, means this Toyota is ready to crank.

Mustard Fridays is a mini documentary series showcasing people in our local community doing awesome things. The impact they are making definitely cuts the mustard, so we are keen as mustard to share their stories.
